Babylon Leather is best known for DIY bag kits, but a lot of what makes the shop worth browsing is the smaller, cheaper stuff: finished desk pieces in oil-waxed leather, character bag charms, a sheepskin seat cushion, a keychain kit you can finish in an hour, and cut pieces of leather if you'd rather design your own project. This is a gift-oriented guide to seven of those products, most of them under $50. If you're after the bag and tool kits instead, see our Babylon DIY kits guide.

Babylon Leather Airplane-Shaped Leather Keychain DIY Kit
DIY kit Airplane-Shaped Leather Keychain DIY Kit $27.69 · About 1 hour

Top-grain sheepskin kit rated "easy" by the brand, with oblique pricking holes for a neat stitch.

Babylon Leather 1 sq. ft. Top Grain Lychee Leather
Materials 1 sq. ft. Top Grain Lychee Leather $14.99 · Cut piece

Medium-soft cowhide, 1.8–2.0 mm thick, with a large pebbled texture that the brand says hides scratches well.

For the desk: pen organizer and document folder

Both desk pieces are made from "crazy horse" leather, a cowhide finished with oils and waxes. It is a deliberate choice: the leather darkens and develops a patina as you use it, and the brand is upfront that light scratches and marks show easily, which many buyers see as part of the look. Both come in the same six colors (brown, black, coffee, wine red, dark green and blue).

Open leather pen organizer showing the pen slots

Open, with slots for 12 pens and a zip all the way round.

The pen organizer is $42.99 and compact at 17.5 × 12.2 × 4 cm and 200 g, so it fits in a bag as easily as a drawer. The A4 folder is $49.99 and sized for standard documents (32 × 26 cm), with a button-and-string closure instead of a zip, which keeps it slim at 2 cm.

Small gifts under $30

This is where the shop is at its most playful. The Apple Leather Bag Charm ($22.99) is a 5.5 cm veg-tanned leather charm with zinc-alloy hardware, part of a series of leather "characters" you can collect and clip to a bag or keys. The 3D Cowhide Leather Flower ($26.99) is a handmade 7–8 cm blossom in red, brown, yellow or coffee, and works as hair or neck styling (the site lists it as a choker). Both are the kind of gift that doesn't need a size or a measurement.

Blue and white leather airplane keychain

The airplane keychain you build yourself

Make it yourself: the airplane keychain kit

If you want to give something you made, the Airplane-Shaped Leather Keychain DIY Kit ($27.69) is the gentlest way in. It is rated "easy", takes about an hour, and uses top-grain sheepskin with oblique pricking holes so the stitches sit at a neat angle. It is a good small first project before moving on to the bigger kits.

For the home: the sheepskin seat cushion

The Animal-Shaped Sheepskin Seat Cushion ($49.99) is the most unexpected product here, and the one most likely to be a hit as a gift for a kid's room or a favorite chair. It is made of natural Australian sheepskin at 40 × 40 cm, in six designs: lion, koala, rabbit, dog, raccoon and panda. As with any natural sheepskin, the brand notes that each piece varies slightly in look and texture.

For makers: buy the leather itself

If you already have patterns and tools, Babylon also sells leather by the piece. The 1 sq. ft. Top Grain Lychee Leather ($14.99) is a medium-soft cowhide at 1.8–2.0 mm, with a large pebbled texture that the brand says hides everyday scratches. It is a low-cost way to test the material before committing to a larger project.

A note on reviews: the shop did not show review counts for these items, so we've judged them on the listed materials, dimensions and craftsmanship rather than customer scores. Check the product page for the latest feedback before ordering.

Bottom line: if the bag kits are too big a commitment, Babylon Leather's smaller items are an easy way to get a real leather gift for $15–$50, and code Chung10 takes 10% off.
